4th of July party of the 3rd of July

Most Brazilians can't say the "th"sound, so I tried to practice saying "The Third of July." We'll work on it some more.

We had regular class today for the first part, then for CSGs we did rotations of American culture. Zoe and I did the American flag's meaning and history. Did you know that Hawaii wasn't a state until 1960, which is when we got our current flag?! Others were the history of the revolution and the constitution, it was fun because we got to do whatever topic we wanted.

We walked over to the big auditorium for the presentations on this week's theme, "Dreams and Courage". My students did a skit about the future professions they dream of. I'll add a video if one comes up.

After all that, the regular school day stuff, we had a Fourth of July party back at the school. The kids brought chips and cookies and stuff, and we bought hotdogs and buns and grilled them. We played a lot of music at a bunch of the kids had prepared a dance for us that was really quite long and impressive. It was a good time. The hot dogs were ok, better than the cheap ones at home.

In this video, you can see Paul wearing some suspenders that I bought in Denver and brought with me just for this day.

There were these really amazing ants that were really tiny and were carrying pieces of chips up the wall. It was amazing, like I said! They are in the video too.

After school, we passed out! It was a long and hot day!
